Special Announcement

Cyndi Lauper to Receive Arts in Action Award at Harmony 2021 Virtual Fundraising Gala

NYCGMC is delighted to honor legendary singer, songwriter, actress, and activist Cyndi Lauper with our annual Arts in Action Award at Harmony 2021. A gutsy real-life heroine who has never been afraid to speak her mind and stick up for a cause - whether it's women's rights, gay rights, or fighting against HIV/AIDS - Cyndi is an inspiration to us and to the entire community. Her activism and passion as a tireless champion and ally to the LGBTQ+ community, along with the unmatched emotional quality and uplifting spirit in her music, have helped shift cultural perceptions.

Cyndi's generations of fans know that she embodies our organization's core values: we must all be fearless champions for equality, love, and acceptance, and the arts are a crucial and effective opposition to hatred and bigotry. Our 2021 Arts in Action Award for substantial contributions to the NYC queer community and the arts will be presented to Cyndi Lauper on Saturday, February 13, during the Harmony gala fundraiser.

Cyndi made her NYCGMC debut in December 1995 in our holiday concert at Carnegie Hall. She created her own song by reinterpreting several carols and workshopping with the chorus, and she was bestowed a lifetime honorary membership. She recently collaborated with Youth Pride Chorus on the music video of "Hope" for the 2020 virtual holiday concert.

Be our virtual valentine for Harmony 2021, the streaming Big Apple Performing Arts fundraising gala, benefiting New York City Gay Men's Chorus, Youth Pride Chorus, and Tonewall.

Harmony always has been and continues to be a celebration of the power music has to bring people together - this year online, worldwide, and FREE to watch. Tune in Saturday, February 13, 8PM-9PM EST, from the comfort of your own home and your pajama bottoms for one fabulous hour featuring special guest performances, celebrity interviews, exciting silent auction prizes, musical memories, inspiring fundraising, and more as we support our beloved ensembles and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
